Meeting with Attention to Song

A family friendly event for musicians and listeners!

Old Haverford Friends has been holding an Interfaith Meeting for Song usually the first Thursday of the month 7:30-9:00 PM at Old Haverford Friends Meeting, 235 East Eagle Rd, Havertown, PA 19083. These open-mics are jointly hosted by Old Haverford Friends and Or Zarua congregation.

Beginning with around 10 minutes of silent worship, one of the conveners will open with a song from which they feel led. More songs follow, offered by members of both faith groups. Some are shared directly, some are requested.

Silent Vigils held to honor the lives of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and the countless known and unknown victims of injustice were organized by Laura Jackson and Melinda Yin. Members, attenders, and allies have been standing in front of the Meeting House from May 29 to June 13, from 30 to 60 minutes in groups of 2-16. The Sisters of Mercy and their friends, joined in the second week. Their spiritual mission encompasses a commitment to social justice, with 5 interdependent critical concerns. These are: non-violence, the earth, immigration, anti-racism, and the condition of women.
