Care of the Meeting Community
Do I think it is important for everyone in the Meeting to be friends and to feel like we belong together?
When we do disagree, do I care enough about staying friends to try to solve our differences and not just keep my feelings to myself or ignore the other person's feelings? When I let another person know my point of view, am I careful not to do or say things that will hurt that person's feelings and turn it into a fight? If people say or do things that hurt my feelings, do I let them know it in a way that lets them know I want to make up and stay friends?
Do I try to think about how other people feel and what they need? When I find out someone needs something or is feeling bad, do I offer to help?
Do I try to notice things that other kids are doing well and compliment them? If I don't like what they are doing, do I tell them how I feel honestly while showing them I still want them to be my friends?
When new people visit Meeting or First Day School, do I ask their names, tell them my name, talk to them, and include them in any conversations I have with my friends and brothers/sisters? If kids can't come to Meeting sometimes, do I keep in touch with them? Do we try to get together at other times besides First Day School and Meeting?
Do I treat younger kids the way I would want older kids to treat me? Do I try to include them in what I am doing, and listen to what they have to say? Do I remember that even little kids are separate people with their own opinions and feelings?
Care in My Home
How well do I treat my brothers, sisters, parents and other family members at home? What do I do for fun? Is it something that makes me healthier, brings me closer to God and other people, or improves the community?
Do I talk to my family members about the things that worry and scare me? When I want to know about grown-up things like religion, dying, money, drugs or sex, do I ask my parents or ask some other kids at school? Do I talk to my parents about what faith means to them?
