About our Cherry Trees...

A History of Merion Friends Meeting
"Among the companions of the founder of Pennsylvania, when he arrived on the shores of the Delaware, in the year 1682, were a large number of Welsh people of great respectability and substance. These excellent persons, before they left their native country, had purchased of the proprietary several thousand acres of land on the western side of the Schuylkill, about six miles from the spot fixed upon for the city of Philadelphia; and this tract was called Merioneth, in honour of their birth-place."

a National Historic Landmark

And special thanks to our early donors!

Merion Friends Meeting participated in the AFSC "Virtual Postcard" project:

The postcards to President Obama request
1. No additional troops to be sent to Afghanistan.
2. A timeline for the withdrawal of US troops and for diplomacy and dialogue with all parties to the conflict without preconditions.
3. The provision of badly needed development aid by civilian-led organizations not the military.
4. Redirect the more than $44 billion spent yearly on war funding to human needs in Afghanistan and at home.
